The BBC is set to open a THEME PARK, with attractions set to include Doctor Who, Top Gear and Sherlock themed rides.

The Guardian reports that BBC Worldwide - the Beeb's commercial arm - has struck a deal to 'allow a range of its programmes and characters to be "brought to life" at a new £2bn theme park' set to be built in North Kent.

Doctor Who, Sherlock and Top Gear are among popular shows set to be turned into attractions at the site, due to open in around 5 years, with developers of the park now reported to be whittling down programmes and brands which are to be turned into rides, interactive simulators and experiences.

Director of live events at BBC Worldwide, Stephen Davies, said "the idea behind this resort is a really exciting way of celebrating the very special place the BBC has in British culture".
