After Sherlock, played by Benedict Cumberbatch, had seemingly committed suicide, the nation was gripped as he returned for another series earlier this year...his apparent return from the dead was tweeted about over 639,000 times!

Also getting viewers tweeting was Oberyn's death in Game Of Thrones (404,000 tweets), Cheryl Fernandez-Versisini's return to the X Factor (372,000 tweets) and The Only Way Is Essex star Gemma Collins' breakdown in the jungle on I'm a Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here (336,000 tweets).

Also in the top ten were Peter Capaldi becoming the next Doctor Who, and Celebrity Big Brother. The analysis was carried out by Telegraph Hill, and all figures are correct as according to the ITV News Website. Tea Break Talkers found out about the story as a result of, surprise surprise, a tweet!
