ITV's Text Santa Appeal has record total of £5.5 million

ITV's annual Text Santa event has raised a record £5.5 million.

The total at the end of Friday Night's telethon was £5,503,065. The money raised will be split between six good causes; Teenage Cancer Trust, Guide Dogs, WellChild, Marie Curie Cancer Care, Alzheimer's Society and Together For Short Lives.

Highlights of last night's show included a special episode of hit show Downton Abbey starring George Clooney, and an 'I'm a Celebrity' themed trial for pop supergroup McBusted.
